Language Support

Dictiva supports 8 languages out of the box. Learn how to set your preferred language and how to request support for additional languages.

Overview

Dictiva ships with full UI translations across 8 languages, and we can accommodate additional languages on request. Whether your team is distributed across regions or you serve clients in a specific locale, governance content in Dictiva adapts to the language your people work in.

Supported Languages

Every page, label, error message, email notification, and governance term across the platform is fully translated in each language — including the Library, Regulations, and AI assistant responses.

How Language Resolution Works

Dictiva determines the display language using the following priority order:

  1. Your saved preference — if you have chosen a language in Settings, it always wins
  2. Your organization's default language — set by your admin in Organization Settings
  3. Your browser's locale — used as a fallback when no preference has been saved
  4. English — the ultimate fallback

This means you can override your browser locale without changing any browser settings. Your preference is stored in your profile and follows you across devices.

Setting Your Language

As a User

  1. Sign in to Dictiva
  2. Go to Settings → Preferences
  3. Under Language, select your preferred language from the dropdown
  4. The interface updates immediately — no page reload required

Your selection is saved to your profile. It persists across sessions and devices.

As an Organization Admin

To set a default language for all new members:

  1. Go to Settings → Organization
  2. Under Organization Details, set the Default Language
  3. New members who have not set a personal preference will see the interface in this language

Individual users can always override the organization default from their own Preferences.

URL-Based Language Switching

Dictiva uses locale-prefixed URLs for all non-English languages. For example:

  • English (default): app.dictiva.com/statements
  • Japanese: app.dictiva.com/ja/statements
  • German: app.dictiva.com/de/statements

English has no prefix by design. Switching your language preference automatically redirects you to the correct locale prefix.

Requesting Additional Languages

We designed Dictiva's internationalization layer to support any language. If your organization needs a language not currently listed, we can add it.

To request a new language:

  • Contact us at hello@dictiva.com or use the support page
  • Tell us which language you need and roughly how many users it would serve
  • For Enterprise customers, custom language additions can be included as part of your onboarding

We prioritize language additions based on customer demand. Enterprise and Business plan customers receive expedited handling.

Notes for Governance Content

  • Library statements, glossary terms, and regulatory summaries are authored in English and served in English regardless of UI language. We are expanding translated library content progressively.
  • AI-generated content (comprehension decompositions, AI draft, AI refine) responds in the language of the statement being analyzed, not the UI language setting.
  • Email notifications (magic link, acknowledgement requests, billing emails) are sent in the recipient's saved language preference, or English if no preference is set.
