AI Assistant & Comprehension

Use AI-powered tools to understand governance content, verify comprehension, and configure your own AI providers in Dictiva.

AI-Powered Governance

Governance documents are often dense and hard to parse. Dictiva's AI assistant helps your team understand what statements actually mean, verifies comprehension through interactive sessions, and surfaces insights that would take hours to find manually.

Comprehension Points

When you view a governance statement, the AI assistant can decompose it into comprehension points — the key concepts someone needs to understand to comply with the statement.

For example, the statement "All production changes must follow the change management process and be approved by the CAB" might produce:

  • What constitutes a "production change"
  • What the change management process requires
  • Who sits on the CAB and how approval works
  • What to do in emergency situations

Comprehension points turn abstract policy language into concrete, actionable understanding.

Verification Sessions

To test whether someone has truly understood a statement or policy:

  1. Select a statement or assembly
  2. Click Start Verification Session
  3. The AI generates questions based on comprehension points
  4. The participant answers each question
  5. Responses are scored and recorded

Scoring

Each response is evaluated on:

ScoreMeaning
CorrectDemonstrates clear understanding of the concept
PartialShows some understanding but misses key elements
IncorrectDoes not demonstrate understanding

Session results are stored and can be reviewed later for training and audit purposes.

Comprehension Cards

For self-paced learning, Dictiva offers comprehension cards — flashcard-style prompts that help users internalize governance concepts. Each card presents a comprehension point and asks the user to explain it in their own words before revealing the expected answer.

Cards are useful for:

  • Onboarding new team members who need to learn existing policies
  • Refresher training before audit season
  • Continuous learning as governance programs evolve

Configuring AI Providers

Dictiva supports BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) — you can connect your own AI provider to power comprehension features.

Supported Providers

ProviderModels
AnthropicClaude Sonnet, Claude Haiku
OpenAIGPT-4o, GPT-4o mini

Setting Up Your Provider

  1. Navigate to Settings > AI Configuration
  2. Select your provider
  3. Enter your API key
  4. Choose a default model
  5. Click Save

API keys are encrypted at rest and never shared. If no provider is configured, AI features are disabled.

Key Resolution

AI keys resolve hierarchically: if a user doesn't have a personal key configured, Dictiva falls back to the tenant-level key. This lets organizations set a shared key while allowing power users to bring their own.

Privacy and Data Handling

  • Statement text is sent to the AI provider for comprehension analysis
  • No data is used for model training
  • API keys are encrypted and stored per-tenant
  • AI features can be fully disabled if your organization requires it
